Aims and objectives
The main aim of this KHDA approved qualification in Facial and Electrotherapy Treatments is to enable learners to gain the necessary practical and theoretical skills in order to provide facial, facial and body electrical treatments to the general public and to gain employment in the beauty therapy industry. This qualification is suitable for learners aged 16 and over and is designed to provide occupational competence. Developed to meet criteria for application to the DHA for licencing.
Content
This qualification is for learners who want to work within the beauty therapy industry. The qualification consists of 3 mandatory unit with a total of 600 hours of Guided Learning (GL) to achieve the full qualification.
The main skills the learner will perform are:
- Facial skincare to include:
Consultation, skin analysis, cleansing, massage, application and removal of masks, adaptation of treatment to suit the client’s needs and providing aftercare advice
The learner will also develop knowledge about related health and safety, client care and communication and working with others in beauty related industries which is essential to work and be successful in the beauty industry.
- Electrotherapy to include:
Facial electrical treatments – to include preparing the client, checking for contraindications and setting up and using brush cleanse, micro-current, high frequency, faradic, galvanic, vacuum suction and heat treatments The learner will also develop knowledge about related health and safety and client care and communication which is essential to work and be successful in the beauty industry.
Body electrical treatments – to include carrying out relevant tests, selecting, using and adapting products and equipment to suit the clients’ treatment needs and body types and conditions such as Electro Muscle Stimulator, Galvanism, Microcurrent, Vacuum Suction and Mechanical Massage (G5)
- Anatomy, physiology and pathology to include:
The organisation of the body – to include cells, planes, anatomical regions, quadrants, chemical, and structure, function and type of cells
The anatomy, physiology and pathologies of the body systems – to include skin, hair and nails, skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine, respiratory, cardiovascular, lymphatic, digestive, urinary and reproductive
